Ghetto bench

Ghetto bench is a term used to describe a bench press used in weightlifting, body building and strength training exercises. Unlike commercially available presses, ghetto benches can also be made from scrap by individual users, hence their popular street name.

Ghetto benches are often built and customized with materials readily available around the house like chairs, cinder blocks, 2x12 boards wrapped for comfort and ductape used in securing frames and bars (sticks).

The term ghetto bench is sometimes used interchangebly to describe a home made work bench, a bench in the park, or a home made power supply for electronics, however such usage is not equally common.
