Geraldine Ryan-Lush is a Canadian poet, author and educator. She was born in St. Joseph's, St. Mary's Bay, Newfoundland in 1949. She studied at St. Bride's College, Littledale, 1967, and received a Bachelor of Arts and Education from Memorial University. She taught school at various location in Newfoundland/Labrador and Canada, before becoming an internationally recognized author of children's books in 1992. Her children's works have been widely reviewed, among sources Canadian Children's Literature and School Library Journal, New York. Her awards/honours include American Bookseller's "Pick of the Lists" selection, the Merit Magazine Studio Award, and the Alcuin Society Design Award. She also published many scholarly articles, poetry and non-fiction. She made her debut as a serious poet in 2007, with the release of her first collection of poetry, Once When I Wasn't Looking. This volume is now in several universities in United States and overseas, including University of Providence (Rhode Island), University of Winnipeg, and University of North Carolina, (Davis Library). A second collection, Gravel Song, is forthcoming in 2009-2010.
