Generation Catalano is a proposed name for people born in the last years of Generation X and the early years of Generation Y, i.e. the late 1970s and the early 1980s. Although people born during these years are generally lumped into either former or latter generations, it's been noted that this cohort of individuals seems to possess a combination of Gen-X and Millennial characteristics. The Catalano Generation's demeanor has been shaped by their relationship with technology. This group has grown up with digital technology for most of their lives; however they are still old enough to remember the pre-digital world. Their perspective it half analog and half digital, half cynical and half optimistic. This group is also occasionally referred to as Xennials. Origin The term was proposed on Twitter by an editor for Teen Vogue. The name derives itself from the Jordan Catalano character on the '90's TV show My So-Called Life played by Jared Leto.<ref name="Nussbaum"/>
