Gazprom International's project portfolio is composed primarily of exploration stage and production assets as well as projects related to providing services for the oil and gas industry. Valeriy Gulev is a Managing Director of Gazprom EP International B.V. History In 1998, Gazprom, Zarubezhneft and Stroytransgaz created the joint venture Zarubezhneftegaz to represent their interests in foreign projects. In 2007, Gazprom purchased its partners’ shares and renamed its now wholly owned subsidiary ‘Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz’, which has operated in Central and Southeast Asia, India as well as Venezuela for and on behalf of Gazprom since that time. Gazprom EP International B.V. (Gazprom International), which was founded and registered in the Netherlands in 2007, also represented Gazprom’s interests in international upstream projects, but only in Africa and South America. Thus, both companies fulfilled essentially the same function, but in different areas of the world. In order to optimise project management abroad, on 4 February 2011 Gazprom decided to appoint Gazprom International as the sole specialised enterprise for executing Gazprom’s projects for the prospecting, exploration and development of hydrocarbon deposits outside the Russian Federation, combining the assets and authorities of both of foreign structures: Gazprom zarubezhneftegaz and Gazprom EP International B.V. The objective of concentrating all projects under the responsibility of one company was to increase the efficiency of management and financing and to ensure cooperation between structural divisions under the “single-window” principle.
