Gari Rowntree

Gari Rowntree (born October 5th 1986) in Workington, England is an English footballer. Rowntree started his career with Blackburn Rovers as part of their youth academy. He was unfortunate to pick up a serious knee injury that kept him out of the game for 15 months. This hindered his progress and he was released at the end of his youth contract at Ewood Park.

Upon leaving Blackburn he was given the chance to revive his career when Carlisle United offered him a trial unfortunately he did not impress enough to earn a full-time deal despite scoring in a County Cup match. Rowntree featured in Workington Reserves 2-0 win over Barrow on Tuesday 27th March 2007 and signed non contract forms on the eve of the Transfer deadline. Rowntree made his debut for Workington's 1st team as a substitute at Vauxhall Motors on Saturday 31st March making an instant impact by setting up Joe Kendrick to score the crucial winner in a 2-1 victory. During the Summer of 2007 he had the chance to move back up the football ladder with Accrington Stanley but turned it down and opted to stay with his hometown club.

Gari is the son of Former Workington player Kevin Rowntree, one of five offspring of former players currently on the books of the club.
