Games vs. Hardware. A history of PC gaming. The 80's is a book by John B. Purcaru about hardware and video games focusing on PC video games and hardware and how they evolve together. History
How everything begun. The writer is a huge fan of both hardware and games and had the idea to write the book about 8 years ago but the actual work begun in late 2011. While the book was conceived initially as a whole one book the huge amount of work forced him to split the book in 3 main parts.
Content, main chapters
The book was designed to show how video games and hardware evolved together in the 80's, the interesting connections between them while presenting the best games and hardware of the decade.

Some words from the author, concerning spelling errors
I've discussed by mail with the writer and the book wasn't professionally corrected yet, he hopes that soon someone or an editor will correct the book. There are many spelling error in the book due to non-native English language for the writer. He hopes this will be addressed as soon as possible.
Strong, weak points
Strong points:
+ very detailed, there are many games from the 80's described and also many hardware components
+ it is chronologically structured
+ has many quotes and interesting elements
+ the fact that competition is included, you learn how electronic gaming as an ensemble, not only PC gaming evolved
there are described many important events such as the two North American game crash, and main events in the gaming and hardware industry
Minuses:
- no direct interviews , the writer is East European and interviews were impossible due to lack of finances while the writer is employed to support itself, and wrote the book in parallel with the current employment
- the spelling errors
- no Hardcover, or Paperback version launched yet. The author also commented regarding this omission. "I will launch a Hardcover of Paperback version for the book only when all spelling errors found inside are corrected"
Free read
The author allowed to be shared a full chapter from the book, the year 1997 with a subchapter "Games vs. Hardware in 1987"
