Fundamentally Cynical is an American animated series created by animator and filmmaker Preston Hazard. The series aires monthly on Prime Video and the episodes are two to five minutes in length, making the series a short film series. The show has been described as having a cult following. Premise Fundamentally Cynical centers around the life of a camp counselor named Lizard Boy, and the summer camp that he works at. The camp is named after the owner, a reclusive man named, Hugh Dingle-Dork. Most episodes are based around their interaction with the campers, all of which are young, cynical children. Production When Hazard was creating the series, he based the main character "Lizard Boy" off of his book titled, "Mommy Why Can't I Pee". The show is animated for Prime Video by a small studio in Harwinton, Connecticut. Each episode is written by Keith Smoker and Hazard in Reading, Pennsylvania, and tends to include music from the local music scene. Sometime in late 2019, the series was greenlit for a second season, which debuted on December 8, 2019 on Prime Video.
