Fresh concepts

Fresh Concepts is a student-run improv and sketch comedy group of Macalester College. Fresh Concepts performs free improv comedy shows for the Macalester student-body and community. Shows consist of both long form and short form improv as well as sketch comedy.
In 2009, seeing the Fresh Concepts 24 hour show was rated the eighteenth most important thing to do before graduating from Macalester.
History
Fresh Concepts was founded in 1995 as a short-form improv comedy group, which would later add long forms of improv, such as the Harold, Armando Diaz and free-form montage.
The group name originally comes from an inexplicable neon sign in the Macalester cafeteria which read: "Fresh Concepts."
In the summer of '08, a group of current and former members of Fresh Concepts met at the Macalester Alumni reunion to perform the first organized alumni improv show.

Traditions
Every year, Fresh Concepts takes a group retreat to Chicago, where they receive improv training from renowned improv comedy institution Improv Olympic.
Each new member of Fresh Concepts is given a secret nickname shortly after he or she enters the group. Secret nicknames cannot be revealed to anyone outside of Fresh Concepts.
Fresh Concepts has a longstanding relationship with the Chicago-based, alternative sketch comedy group Schadenfreude.
Shows
Fresh Concepts performs approximately 6-10 shows annually. Among these are: the First-Year Floor Show, the 24-Hour Show, the Sketch Show and the end-of-year Secret Show.
In the Spring of 2009, the group performed the first annual 24-Minute show.
