Freestyle Chess

Freestyle Chess is a variant of the Advanced chess, designed by Garry Kasparov. The Freestyle Chess Tournament is a real world tournament played online by the Centaurs (man + computer) with a preliminary stage and a final. The final winner takes the title of Freestyle Chess Champion. The tournament is played on the server with time control.
Introduction
In a normal chess tournament there are very strict rules about what you can do or not do during a game. Certainly enlisting outside help - from a human or a computer - is one of the more serious transgressions. In Freestyle Chess everything is allowed. The players are expected to work in teams or with computers. There are no restrictions. Use Fritz or Deep Shredder, consult openings books or chess Informants, call Anand or Karpov and ask for help, if you know them well enough.
“Freestyle Chess is a competition between humans, who however are allowed, similarly like in correspondence chess, to make use of any technical or human support for selecting their moves. The major difference to correspondence chess exists in the much faster speed of play.
Participants in the Freestyle tournament will normally use "Centaur", which is the Playchess term for humans and machines working together.
Regulation
All games will played on the Internet, in a special room on the Playchess server. Participants need to have an account on the server, which is free for the duration of the tournament.
To register for the Freestyle Tournament you need to fill out a registry form, giving your name, address and Playchess handle. Some days before the tournament starts you will receive an email with further details.
The participants do nothing until about ten minutes before the start of each round. They can go fetch refreshments, log out of the server, even reboot their computers. If they return to the tournament room in time they are automatically back in the event. A few minutes before the round starts the tournament director sends an announcement, and then he starts the round with a click of the mouse. The pairings are executed according to the Swiss system, on each player's computer screen a board opens up and the game can begin.
The standard of play of freetyle tournament is very high, possibly the highest ever seen in chess at time controls.
