Freedom fighter vs repatriated from West Pakistan issue in Bangladesh Army

In 1974, when imprisoned Bangladeshi military personnel returned to a now independent Bangladesh, the psychological war started between these repatriated from West Pakistan and existing Army personnel who fought in country's nine months brutal liberation war. The Army personnel who came from freedom fighter background were given a two years seniority over personnel of repatriated from West Pakistan. These rages anger among repatriates however the couldn't do anything as they were not in power in 1970s. Slowly during country's coup and counter-coup period of 1970s repatriates were able to put them in power and first repatriates Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army Hussain Muhammad Ershad by 1981 either hanged or executed or removed all senior freedom fighter Army personnel from the Bangladesh Army. Hussain Muhammad Ershad since then brought only repatriates to become Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army until 1994 when a civilian government came to the power. See Also
