Freda 51

Freda 51 is a nightclub in the Kamppi district of Helsinki, Finland, owned by the famous Finnish restaurant mogul Sedu Koskinen. The name "Freda 51" comes from its location at Fredrikinkatu 51-53 ("Freda" is a common Helsinki slang nickname for the Fredrikinkatu street). The club replaced Sedu Koskinen's earlier nightclub, Studio 51, at the same premises, as the earlier club was found to constantly operate at a loss. Freda 51's image is uncommon among nightclubs in Helsinki in that it specifically caters for older nightclub customers, from the age of 35 upwards. Many customers are in their 40s or 50s. Freda 51 is open from Wednesday to Saturday. It also has weekly karaoke nights. In September 2009 Paul van Dyk will perform at Freda 51 among with Alex Kunnari and three Finnish DJ's. |
