Franziska Braun (12 December 1885 - 13 January 1976) was the mother of Eva Braun, the longtime mistress and wife of Adolf Hitler. Thus, Franziska Braun was Hitler's mother-in-law when both he and Eva committed suicide less than 48 hours after their marriage. Franziska Katharina Kronberger was born in 1885. She lived in Munich for much of her young life, where she was a seamstress. She married Fritz Braun (d. 1964), a school teacher, but divorced him in 1921. In 1922 she remarried because of financial problems, most likely due to hyperinflation. She and Fritz had 3 daughters during their first marriage, one being Eva Braun. Franziska lived at the end of her life in Ruhpolding, Bavaria, where she died in 1976, at the age of 90 years old.
