Frank McParland

Frank McParland (born 28 April 1959 in Liverpool) is the director of Liverpool F.C.'s academy.
Liverpool F.C.
With the appointment of Rafael Benítez as manager, Liverpool changed their approach in the recruitment of young players. McParland became join-chief scout alongside Eduardo Macia. Benitez said: "My assistant Paco Herrera is working alongside our scouting co-ordinator Frank McParland and the Academy's head of recruitment, Barry Whitbread. They will be scouting players for and from The Academy and for the first team”.
McParland played a major role in the recruitment of Jack Hobbs from Lincoln City. Hobbs played only three minutes of first-team football for Lincoln after joining the club from Mayflower Soccer Academy in Boston as a nine-year-old in December 1997. Another player identified by McParland and Herrera was Paul Anderson, who joined from Hull City with John Welsh going to Hull City in a player exchange. Both Hobbs and Anderson featured in Liverpool's Youth side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2005.
Bolton Wanderers general manager
McParland was appointed as General Manager of Bolton Wanderers FC on 4 July 2007. Trotters manager Sammy Lee worked with McParland during their time together at Liverpool, and lured the 48-year-old to The Reebok Stadium. McParland was responsible for off the field duties that a team manager would usually perform. In October 2007, after a poor run of results, Lee and his backroom staff, including McParland, were sacked. In May 2008, Lee returned to Liverpool as assistant to Rafael Benitez.
Liverpool Academy Director
On 1 May 2009, McParland returned to Liverpool on a full-time basis. After spending a month on a review of the Academy, Rafael Benítez named McParland as the club's new academy director.
