Francisco Banha

Francisco Banha, born February 11th 1963, is a Portuguese entrepreneur focused in the areas of Management, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship. Within his scope of interest he created several companies: Gesbanha, Gesventure, GesEntrepreneur and GesEvolution which act in the three areas mentioned above.
After creating his first company - Gesbanha, SA - in 1986, in the Management and Accounting area, he realized the market potential in the Venture Capital area that was not yet explored. Thus, in 1999 he created Gesventure, a Venture Capital catalyst company. Since then, he has given direct support to 20 companies in raising circa 35 million euro using Venture Capital and Business Angels' financing.
In 2000, he established the Business Angels Club, the first one in Portugal, which, at the moment has 160 registered members.
In 2006, he created a partnership with the Canada-based CGInternational and created GesEntrepreneur, a company that bets in Entrepreneurship Education based in the learning-by-doing methodology. This company is focused mainly in prison and in the education system - from Elementary to University levels.
Since 2007 that he is President of FNABA - Federação Nacional de Associações de Business Angels (Portuguese Federation of Business Angels), being actively involved in the creation of the first world association of this kind - World Business Angels Association.
Francisco Banha is also a Business Angel and Director of several Start-up Companies, some of which he helped to set up. He is a consultant in the areas of Venture Capital, Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Knowledge Capital and Internet, Francisco Banha is also closely connected to Management, being an expert in reporting to multinationals, Holdings, Banco de Portugal, Instituto de Seguros de Portugal and CMVM, in Company Downsizing, Mergers and Acquisitions and in Process Reengineering - Administrative, Accounting, Financial and Operational.
In December 2004, Banha created a professional blog where he shares his activity, relevant news and information about the sectors in which he is working on.
In 2009 he created GesEvolution to be able to apply all his knowledge of a 28-year-old experience in the areas mentioned to support business ideas and its development.
Francisco Banha is author of the books "Capital de Risco - Os Tempos Estão a Mudar" published by Bertrand in 2000 and "Capital de Risco - O Impacto da Fiscalidade" published by Edições Vida Económica in 1998.
