Storyline
In a world so similar to our own that the two may in fact be one, our story begins at one of histories great -- and mankind’s most far reaching -- historical revisions. At the conclusion of the Battle of Berlin at the end of World War Two, the invading Soviet Red Army discoveries Hitler has escaped his Berlin bunker and flown to the Bavarian Redoubt, the great southern fortress from which the final-final battle and the ultimate victory of the war will be decided, again, there they find that no matter how prepared the field may be, when the odds against you are this overwhelming no defenses can save you. Spoiler, Hitler’s escape is fruitless the battle is still lost and Hitler’s body is returned to Berlin where his escape and all that it represented are rewritten into the ending of the war we all know today.
The first episode and following episodes establish the books focus: Tyranny, what it looks like, what it smells like, what it is beyond the demonized statues we see only on pillars in rarified forms to obvious to be missed, as examples that all should avoid; all the while cloaking the very real entities of oppression which thrive on people to this day. Tyranny, oppression and mental slavery stand at the heart of this novels struggle through the simplest illusion of all. Survival.
