Fictional war

A fictional war is a conflict, usually involving warfare, that is presented in a novel, film, anime, short story, manga, etc. It is a war that did not actually happen. Some authors commonly include Alternate History in their works. Notable authors, such as Harry Turtledove and George Orwell, have used fictional wars in their books. One representative film could be the Clone wars from the Star Wars Trilogy.
In cinema
Clone Wars
In this epic saga of the Star Wars series, the Confederacy of Independent Systems is defeated and becomes part of the Galactic Empire. One reason for this victory is an army of clones. Jango Fett, a bounty hunter, was hired by Darth Tyrannus/Count Dooku to create an army of clones for the upcoming war the count had been planning. This particular conflict was fought on many planets of different terrains. It was, in short, a war of a hundred fronts.
Galactic Civil war
Following the victory of the Galactic Empire in the star wars saga, a group of rebels rises up against the Empire. The war started when Galen Marek sacrifce himself to save rebel leaders from the emperor and Darth Vader. The war was on the empire's success into the battle of Yavin then Luke Skywalker, Vader's son and future Jedi, and Han Solo, The rebels best pilot, destoyed Death Star. The Empire seemed to be winning again after Battle of Hoth and the capture of Solo, Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2. Eventually, the empire was destroyed during Battle of Endor when the rebels destroyed the second Death Star and Darth Vader killed the emperor to save his son. The rebels became the official government of the galaxy and still fought the remnants of the empire, many times whos allied with dark jedis like Jerec, Desann and Tavion. Eventually, the war ended with a rebel victory.
Bug war
In the famous book and film, soldiers from the far future are forced to battle massive alien bugs, who provoked the battle by launching a massive asteroid at Buenos Aires. Despite a few early failiures, the invasion of the Bug homeworld in retaliation for the asteroid attack is successful.
The war against the machines
A fictional war from the Terminator franchise where three billion humans are killed by Skynet, a self aware computer network and the surviving humans struggle to defeat it.
In literature
Nineteen Eighty-Four
A classic dystopian novel by English author George Orwell. Published in 1949, it is set in the eponymous year and focuses on a repressive, totalitarian regime. The world of Nineteen Eighty-Four is built around a never-ending war involving the book's three superstates, with two allied powers fighting against the third.
Xul war
In a series of prominent fiction books depicting an invasion of earth, the evil xul, an intelligent alien race bent on the enslavement of humanity, invades earth. Throughout the war, many people are captured and enslaved, and at one point, the Xul reduce most cities and landmarks to rubble with a hail of astroids from their homeworld. The 21st interstellar Marine expititionary force is tasked to battle the Xul, free the enslaved, and travel through space to invade their homeworld, and attempt to end the tyrannical reign of the Xul once and for all.
War of the Worlds
When aliens from a distant planet attack the Human race in the famous book by H.G. Wells, as well as two film adaptations, the Human race cannot do much to stop them. However, every one of Earth's species are part of the battle, and the aliens, with no immunity to the Earth's viruses and bacteria, mostly die of disease.
Second American Civil war
Following the defeat of the Union in author Harry Turtledove's fictional Timeline-191, the United States and their allies are defeated once again by the Confederate States and their allies.
Great War
After being shamed twice, the United States and their allies go to war against the Confederate States and their allies as part of Harry Turtledove's Timeline-191. The fighting represents that of World War I- Trench warfare, barbed wire, poison gas, battles in "no-man's land", and fields of corpses.
World War II in Timeline-191
After the humiliating defeat in the Great war, Confederate dictator Jake Fetherston tries to defeat the United States by launching a war in the 1940s. Fighting rages between the allies of the United States and Confederate states. The battlefields are on almost every continent and ocean. Each side supports their own sets of guriellas fighting in the enemy's heartland for separate causes- they had seen the war as a chance for support from foreign powers and a chance to divert their enemy's attention elsewhere. Both sides obtain the atomic bomb and nuke enemy cities. The United States and their allies are victorious.
American-German war of 1901
In a book by Robert Conroy, a German invasion of the United States is launched as William McKinley begins his second term in office.

War of the Americas
Features in Jack & Bobby. Fought between the United States and Mexico against invading South American forces.
Earth-Romulan war
A war between Humans and an alien race in the Star Trek series.
Dominion war
In the fictional Star Trek universe, the Dominion War is a war between the Dominion, Cardassian Union and later the Breen Confederacy against the Alpha Quadrant alliance of the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Empire, and later, the Romulan Star Empire. The final two seasons of the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine focused extensively on this war.

The Australian-American War
A war that no one had apparently has heard of. A veteran of it calls in Chatterbox FM in GTAIII, and mentions of a sound American victory are made in GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas.
Human-Covenant war
In Halo serie, a war between the United Nations Space Command and Covenant, a theocratic alliance of alien races is fought. The Flood, a parasite race, and remnants of the Forerunner's robot armies whould later take part of the war too.
The Covenant would in the end of the war split into two factions of Covenant Loyaltists, those who was still loyal to the hierarchs, and Covenant Separatists, those who had rebelled against hierarchs. The Sepratists would later ally with the Humans and the Forerunners and defeated the Loyaltists and the Flood during the Battle of the Ark.

In Transmetropolitan. Fought between America and England against France, resulted in the French language to be outlawed.
One Year War
In the Universal Century saga of the 1979 Japanese anime series Mobile Suit Gundam, a war of independence is declared by the Principality of Zeon, a separatist human colony, against the Earth Federation. It's mentioned at the start of the series that both sides lost half of their respected populations during the first few months of the war alone.
The plot of the series charts the attempts of teenage ensigns who use the Federation's prototype Mobile Suits (large humanoid-style mecha) to battle similar Zeon machines and end the conflict.
Space War I
In the 1982 Japanese anime series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Space War I is an intergalactic war between humans and the giant alien race known as the Zentradi. The initial conflict occurs when Zentradi scouts uncover an alien battle fortress, The SDF-1 Macross, on Earth. The SDF-1's automatic defense system, which the humans weren't able to override, automatically fires on the Zentradi. The SDF-1 then becomes the central element in a relentless chase across the solar system as the Zentradi attempt to capture it.
