Forward to Mars Party

The Forward to Mars Party ran in the UK General Election in in 1992. It stood against incumbent Prime Minister (Conservative), John Major. The Party stood for increased British involvement in Mars exploration, greater UK contribution to the European Space Agency and its human exploration ambitions. The Party proposed the building of a British station on Mars. It's primary purpose was to raise interest in Britain's role in space exploration. The Party was represented by its sole parliamentary candidate, Charles S. Cockell; it also had an education (Mark Page) and environmental secretary (Sasha Rakoff). Its election agent was William Hardy. The party won 91 votes, just over 0.1% of the vote.
