First Burmese

First Burmese is a book written by Min Yu Wai 1st published in Burma/Myanmar 1968. 2nd published in 2003. It is to remember for modern Burma/Myanmar in literature, painting, cartoon, music, drama, movie, sport, medical,
social activities ..etc. Writer mentioned only 18 first Burmese and acknowledged that there must be a lot of Burmese inventors and outstanding person.

* 1. Makkayar Prince - There is another prince who was son of King Mindon. Author mentioned the Makkayar Prince who wrote the first English-Burmese dictionary. He tried to modernized Burmese Kingdom
with western education

* 2. Yaw Mingyi U Pho Hlaing - (BA 1191 - 1245), First Science Literature publisher.

* 3. Dr. Shawlu - (1839 - 1929), First medical doctor who studied in USA and came back to practiced. He met US President Andrew Johnson and brought a president letter to Burmese King Mindon Min. But British Government did not favor him due to USA president and Burmese king involvement. Later he established school in Moulmein city to work for education and medical field until he died at 90 years old. Shawlu was a Karen nationality

* 5. Daw Oo Zun - (1868 - 1944), First Social Charity woman by establishing "old folk home"

* 6. U Shwe Kyu - (1865 - 1920), First modern magazine publisher and editor. Established "Myanmar A Lin Magazine" presently called New Light of Myanmar Newspaper.

* 7. U Pho Sein - (1881 - 1952), First Modern leading actor in Myanmar drama.

* 8. Sein Vedar - (BA 1244 - 1304), First Burmese Traditional Orchestra leading musician.

* 9. U Pe Maung Tin - (1888 - alive until 1968), First Burmese Professor in Yangon University.

*10. U Ohn Maung - ( 1891 - 1964), First Burmese Movie Maker. "Metta and Thuyar" 1921.

*11. U Ba Kalay (Shwe Talay) - ( 1894 - 1945), First Burmese Cartoonist.

*12. U Ba Nyan - (1897 -1945), First Burmese Modern Painter who studied painting in UK Royal College.

*13. Dr. Walter Chit Tun - (1897 - 1946), First Burmese modern builder

*14. U Nyi Pu - (1900 - 1968), First Burmese Movie Actor and friend of U Ohn Maung. U Nyi Pu was born in Pye city and acted many movies and director as 20 movies.

*15 U Ba Gyan - (1900 - 1953) First Cartoon Movie Creator. Born in Nyaung Done city.

*16 Zaw Gyi @ Saya Zawgyi (U Thein Han) - (1907 - ), First Modern Burmese Poet.

*17 Min Thuwon - (1909 - ), First Modern Children Poet.

*18 U Zaw Weit - (1911 - ), First Burmese Modern Olympic participant for weight lifting.
