Fir-Tex is a technological fabric, and a registered Trademark of Fir-Tex Ltd. It is characterized by the use of a multi-layered fabric of which at least one layer is a composite layer which includes Oxide_mineral and ceramic and is capable to emit Far infrared in the range between 4 and 20 micron. Manufacturing Fir-tex is manufactured from a treated polyamide fabric and a film of composite material based on polyurethane and ceramics. As for Gore-Tex use can be made of Polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE). Fir-Tex combines the properties of *An inner mixture of about 30 natural and synthetic metal oxides which are treated at high temperature. After cooling the mixture is able to emit electromagnetic waves within 4 and 20 microns(far infrared rays) *A polymeric matrix, which is able to bind mineral to reach very high textiles performances. Design Fir-Tex is a multi-layered fabric which has multiple use, it is integrated in existing garments such as polo’s, shirts, jeans, bra’s and t-shirts and in bands for the ankles, knees, elbows or wrists. Fir-Tex is also used to make a special Fir-Vest for athletes, medical or well-being. The multi-layered fabric consists of at least a regular fabric layer and a composite layer. Special Care of Fir-Tex fabric and garments * Dirt and human sweat need to be removed as they can block the pores of the breathable versions of Fir-Tex and thus altering it’s good functioning. * Fir-Tex garments should never be washed at more than 30 degrees and without fabric softener as these may damage the functioning of the ceramic layer. Technology Fir-Tex is based on the use of Far Infrared Radiation, commonly called FIR. The layer of composite material is acting as a mirror to the human body as the heat, in the form of FIR, that the human body emits is received by this layer of composite material (in which the ceramics react) and it send back FIR to the human body in a specific range. The World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) has decided in a September 2009 meeting that the fabric meets the rules of anti-doping and has not been placed on the list of prohibited substances or mehtods.
