As well as a best-selling author, Fiona Clark (author) is teacher, published poet, wellbeing coach and CPD (Continuing Professional Development) trainer, living and working in the UK. Education She has completed psychology training ‘Teaching Emotional Resilience to Children and Adolescents’ at the University of Pennsylvania led by Martin Seligman and Karen Reivich. She was awarded her QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from the University of Nottingham, has an English Honours Degree from Nottingham Trent University. She continues her work into methodologies for improving pupils' literacy and wellbeing. Career Since 1997 Fiona Clark has taught in many schools across the UK and held various roles in primary, secondary, further and higher educational settings across the UK. She has held the posts of Head of English, Director of Communications and Faculty Leader in UK secondary schools. She devotes some time each week to working with the children of the North Kensington and Grenfell communities of London to improve their literacy skills, through workshops, a book club and creative writing sessions. Creative Writing A teacher and leader in schools for over two decades, Fiona now regularly takes up the role of writer in residence in schools across the UK, running creative writing workshops for school children. Evidence gathered through a Knowledge Exchange Programme with University College London, shows that Fiona’s workshops improve children’s writing skills, improve well-being, boost self-esteem and increase confidence. She has also written for the Times Educational Supplement and appeared as a guest on various educational podcasts, including alongside Richard Gerver, speech writer to Barrack Obama. Affiliations Fiona Clark is a member of NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education) and is a Fellow of The Chartered College of Teaching.
