Finding Molly: An Adventure In Catsitting

"Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsitting" is an Emet Comics-published, webcomic mini-series created by artist Jenn St-Onge and writer Justine Prado. Starting in 2002, the story follows Molly, a young woman who, fresh out of art school, finds herself stuck in the suburbs with her parents and their cat, Pishi. The series began publication as a webseries in January 2016, with its first printed collection debuting in January 2017.
Summary
"Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsitting" is the story of recent art school grad Molly, currently living at home with her parents, and trying to resurrect her dreams of becoming a true artist. Her friends live in Downtown LA in the up and coming Arts District, sharing cool lofts in the same funky, old building. Molly is desperate to live a in an environment similar to those of her friends, but is having a hard time catching up. As Molly's friends are building their own lives as artists, she’s stuck living in her family’s suburban home. Lacking inspiration, Molly becomes worried that she has lost her artistic voice. The only creative endeavors Molly has mastered during her time at home are technically perfect sketches of her mother’s cantankerous cat. These sketches lead to an opportunity to cat-sit in the city for a wealthy family which creates a window to freedom excites Molly, and soon enough she begins to find success… as a cat sitter. As the story progresses Molly’s furry monsters become her muses in the oddest of ways.
Characters
• Molly - Molly is a struggling art school graduate. She doesn’t try too hard and it shows. Her Mexican mom and Persian dad remind her daily of her unemployed and single status. Sketch book perpetually in hand, she is hopeful (sort of) for the future.
• Sarahh - Molly’s friend from art school. Boho chic and spends a lot of money to look that way. Trust-fund kid with real talent. She’s sweet but her privilege often shows. Molly would hate her if they weren't practically sisters by now.
• Dad - Molly's dad hasn’t taken a day off in his life. He is industrious, kind, and speaks without a filter. Born in Iran, he has been in America since childhood, but he's still very old-school.
• Pishi - The family's Persian cat. Old, cranky and competitive with Molly. Molly can't stand her, thinks she's useless, but she's also aware of how similar their lives are.
• Steve and Linda - Laurel Canyon hippies. Still living in the past (their house shows it). Never had kids; they had cats. Sweet, but flighty and strange thanks to years of partying and smoking.
• Aberdeen - Steve and Linda's cat. Sweet when they're around, but as soon as they leave the room, she's a monster. Enough said.

Reviewers such as Project-Nerd,Common Room, and IGN have given high praise to the graphic novel as a strong piece of work.
Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsitting has come to develop a very strong fan base within the United States and pockets of popularity outside of North America. In 2016 Finding Molly ran a successful kickstarter campaign in which fans adamantly supported the release of a hard cover graphic novel containing the first five issues along with bonus content.
Publication history
Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsitting was first published online as a webcomic in January 2016, with a new page of the larger comic being published every day of the week until the book's completion. The series continues to be available online for free despite its completion. The webcomic was assembled into five single issues, completing the first story in the series. In addition, a hardcover graphic novel of the book successfully funded through Kickstarter and debuted in January 2017, collecting the first five issues and numerous behind-the-scenes documents.
