Findie is an independent social networking site founded by Matthew Cohen in 2010. Its headquarters are in Melbourne, Australia. As of May 2011, Findie is an independently run and funded network aimed at Independent Stage and Screenwriters, Cinematographers, Producers, Actors and Directors. Members have the ability to upload original independent projects for other users to view, share, rate, read, comment and get involved in. Following his move from Vancouver to Melbourne, Matthew felt frustrated with the lack of connectivity on the Internet and trust over Independent film projects. In a interview with Melbourne Radio Station Syn FM, Matthew said that “Findie supplies a secure upload system for users to upload PDF file scripts to the Findie server for other logged-in members to download and read.” The sites structure allows users to create a page for their project or script, set up an account, then individual member profiles provide the ability for users to embed Acting head-shots, Directors trailers or Cinematographers show-reels for other users to view. A new uploaded project can be rated as a Draft, Pre-Production, In Production, Post-Productions or Completed. Findie was launched successfully in May, 2011. Findie was featured in Desktop Magazine, an Australian design publication, projects wall for creative and design initiative.
