Farooq Bakshi

Dr Farooq Bakshi is a noted urdu poet and scholar. Born on 15th july 1957, in the city of Meerut. He was awarded his doctorate in philosophy (Ph.D) at the convocation of Meerut University in 1994.
In 1984 he became the General secratary of The Progressive writers Association ( urdu) under the presidentship of Kaifi aazmi. he was notable during his Secretaryship for organizing many seminars and symposiams. his role was highly appreciated.
In 1986 he was appointed lecturer of urdu at Goverment college ,Kota , Rajasthan. later he was elevated to the post of Associate professor at the same college. During his tenure he worked extensively for the promotion of urdu language in Kota and the hadoti region of rajasthan. The enrollement of students in urdu which was a neglected subject rose sharply owing to his efforts.
in 1996 he was selected as a member of the rajasthan Urdu academy.There he was sucessful in his campaign for opening of courses in urdu language at various Goverment colleges in Rajasthan.

In 2001 he became the president of anjuman-e taraaqi urdu, an N.G.O working for the promotion for urdu language..
As a poet
Dr Farooq bakshi is immensely respected as a poet who isnt afraid to use poetry as an instrument of social change. he has used his poetic skills to combat communalism and promte social harmony. he has extensively dealt with issues of corruption in public life and globalization.
