Fakhir Hiryanvi (1901-1978) was a famous poet, mathematician and educationist of Pakistan.
He was born in Haryana town near Jalandhar in Hoshiar pur District, India. He was educated in Jalandhar, India and Lahore, Pakistan.
He joined the Education Department in 1930 and retired as headmaster of the Kharian Gujrat high school in 1956. He compiled many books on mathematics in Urdu.
His original name was Din Mohammad but in Urdu poetry he used the pen name of Fakhir Hiryanvi. He is considered as epoch making Urdu poet of the 20th centuty. He was also the secretary of Urdu Markaz established by Tajwar Najibabadi. His poetic work "Mauj-e-saba” was published in 1966 by Aiwan-e-adab , Urdu Bazar Lahore.
He has four sons (Ehsan ullah saqib, Sikandar, Saeed pasruri and Hamid) and three daughters. He died in 1978 and lies buried in the graveyard of Pasrur town in Sialkot District Pakistan.
