F.E.A.S.T.

F.E.A.S.T. (Families Empowered and Supporting Treatment of Eating Disorders) is an international organization formed to help families treat eating disorders, particularly anorexia nervosa. It was founded in 2008 by an international advisory board of parents of eating disorder patients and is bolstered by a professional advisory panel of eating disorder clinicians from the United States, France, United Kingdom and Australia. The organization aims to empower families to help loved ones recover from eating disorders by providing information and mutual support, promoting evidence-based treatment, and advocating for research and education to reduce the suffering associated with eating disorders. F.E.A.S.T. also provides an active parent support forum.
F.E.A.S.T. is particularly supportive of Family-Based Treatment, also known as the Maudsley approach, which relies on the competencies within a family to refeed adolescent and young adult anorexic patients and transition them to autonomous healthy development.
F.E.A.S.T.'s executive director and founder is Laura Collins, author of "Eating With Your Anorexic".
F.E.A.S.T. was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia, US, in April 2009 and it was approved for 501c3 nonprofit status from the US Internal Revenue Service in August 2009.
