Exeter International Airport Fire and Rescue Service is the Fire service for Exeter International Airport. It has three fire engines and two 4x4s. It is backed up by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. The airport fire service provides a service to Category 7 with Category 9 available on request. The fire crew is CAA Certified and provide 24 hour cover. Mutual assistance The Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004, gives fire services the power to assist other fire services or fire authorities in what is known as mutual assistance. Exeter International Airport Fire and Rescue Service is supported by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. News On Monday 16 August 2010, Exeter Airport was forced to close due to technical problems with the airport's fire appliances. Civil Aviation regulations state that for an airport to operate it must have suitable fire cover. The number of appliances required depend on the size of the airport, the type of aircraft and amount of passengers using the airport. See Also
