BA CityFlyer Flight 8456

BA CityFlyer Flight 8456 was a Avro RJ100, registered G-BXAR, that suffered nose-gear failure and that crashed slightly at London City Airport whilst landing at London City Airport. Fire crews were called to the aircraft just after 07:40pm and the London Ambulance Service said it sent six ambulance crews, two single responders in cars and two duty officers to the scene. Eyewitnesses say that the plane landed hard as the nose-gear collapsed and skidded down the runway. Luckily all passengers and crew members escaped the plane without injury, except one that recieved a minor injury and was taken to hospital.There are no reports of serious injury. All passengers were evacuated and survived. There was no fire damage reportedly at the scene of the accident.
Aftermath
As a result of this incident, London City had to close it's only runway and divert all inbound flights; 8 to Stansted Airport, 1 to Heathrow Airport, 1 to London Luton Airport and 1 to Southend Airport
All departures were either delayed or cancelled.
The airport re-opened on 14 February 2009.

It operates a network of domestic and European services from London City Airport on behalf of British Airways. Due to this, most general media outlet reported the plane as a British Airways flight.
*This incident is similar to another BA CityFlyer incident that took place at London City 5 days before (Flight 8725 from Glasgow, made by G-BZAW). Investigation is underway to see if they are linked in anyway as they both involved the nose-gear on the same aircraft type's, Avro RJ100's.
