European Headache Federation

The European Headache Federation (EHF) is a non-profit organization that seeks to educate people on and improve awareness of headache disorders and to secure better treatment opportunities for headache sufferers. The organization was founded in 1992 and is a registered charity in England and Wales.
Mission
The European Headache Foundation “dedicates its efforts to improving awareness amongst governments, health care providers and consumers across Europe of headache disorders and their personal and socioeconomic impact.” Travel awards are available to help young physicians attend the congresses.
The EHF also organizes Headache Schools in cooperation with individual national headache societies. As of 2011, fifteen schools have been organized in eleven European countries. The schools’ courses are geared toward healthcare professionals with the aim of enhancing their clinical skills and understanding of headache issues. Each school is co-sponsored by the national headache society of the country in which the school takes place. Travel awards are also provided for young physicians wishing to attend a Headache School The EHF produces video conference courses, collected from sessions recorded at the 2009 school in Mallorca, for developing countries that do not have the budget to host entire workshops.
The association also offers scholarships for youung physicians wishing to attend a headache clinic as well as lecture awards to support investigative studies in the field of headache.
Publications
The official journal of the EHF is the Journal of Headache and Pain, published by . The journal contains original research, systemic reviews, and letters concerning a variety of aspects related to headache and pain. Its impact factor is 2.137. It is also the official journal of .
The EHF also issues a bimonthly newsletter to inform physicians, medical journalists, EHF members, and national pharmaceutical companies about the latest developments in understanding and treatment of headache.
