Ettienne married British born Patricia, (2 December 2007) in South Africa and is now living in Penge.
He is currently working as a Personal Trainer and is in the progress of formulating his next expedition.
AroundTheUKin50Days Record and Expedition
Ettienne's AroundTheUKin50Days expedition was born after Patricia (wife) was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009. At that time the NHS had not much of an after care program for women who have just experienced breast cancer.
There was however a Charity called The Haven, Breast Cancer Support Centres that gives free complimentary therapy to everyone who is affected by breast cancer.
To give something back to the charity Ettienne and Patricia set out a fundraising challenge that would match their journey through cancer. The challenge would be to circumnavigate the United Kingdom within a deadline of 50 days. This would include England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales with a combined distance of .
Their expedition started 1 September 2012 from Brighton Pier and followed the coastline counter clock wise. Ettienne decided to make the journey harder by incorporating running as well as cycling into his expedition. He followed a structure of two days cycling averaging and day, then turning to run one day averaging per day.
Ettienne passed Skegness on his world record circumnavigation of the United Kingdom attempt.Ettienne successfully completed his expedition on 19 October 2012 reaching Brighton Pier in just 49 days, making him the First person to circumnavigate the UK in 49 days
Ettienne was sponsored by Ridgeback Bicycles, Madison UK and P&O Ferries on his AroundTheUKin50Days expedition.
Future Expeditions
Ettienne is in the process of planning his next expedition. He has made a commitment to raise £100 000 for The Haven Breast Cancer Support Centres Charity and will continue his expeditions until his target is met.
