Eromo Egbejule

Eromo Egbejule (born on October 23, 1990) is a Nigerian writer, journalist, and self-styled mediapreneur.
Early Life
He grew up in the cities of Sapele and Port Harcourt in the oil-rich Niger Delta region of Nigeria.
Education
Eromo is in his final year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, studying Agricultural & Bioresources Engineering, specializing in Structures & Environment and is working on his final-year project; programming methods of analysis of seepage in hydraulic structures using ]. He plans to undertake a postgraduate diploma in both Journalism and screenwriting after graduation.
He initially planned to study Computer Engineering after leaving high school but followed his father's advice and put in for Medicine & Surgery. Due to a few complications and his scoring slightly below the cutoff mark, the university authorities offered him his present course which he accepted, glad to do something in engineering.
Career
Although barely 21, Eromo has forged a reputation in the various fields he works in. Described as a workaholic by friends and associates, he is reportedly a fan of multi-tasking and takes on a couple, sometimes more, projects at a time.
Literary Career
He is a short story writer, poet and is currently working on his first novel. His works have been published in several anthologies and journals, both online and in print. According to him, he began "writing poems at the age of ten when most of my mates were still running around in their pants, playing with sand and slippers". He has also described himself "as a voracious reader with a very abnormal level of curiosity" and began to read before he was five. At ten, he was reading an average of thirty novels a month.
He entered for essay competitions in secondary schools and wrote a lot of unpublished poetry and novellas which he tore up after a neighbour told him to "stop wasting good paper writing fairytales". After coming out top in most of the essay competitions he entered for, he became something of a school celebrity and had to hide sometimes from people because of his then shy nature. He began writing poems again along with short stories in 2005 after graduating from high school and agreeing with his parents to wait an extra year at home to "become mature".
Mediapreneurship
Having called himself a polymath and due to his various commitments as PR and IT consultant, journalist and other media jobs, he describes himself in one word as "a mediapreneur".
Journalism
Since 2008, Egbejule has freelanced regularly for major Nigerian national dailies including ThisDay, and The Guardian. He has been published in various other print and online media including NEXT, Y!, NigeriaVillageSquare and Punch.
In 2009, he worked as an international news correspondent and citizen journalist with American-based news agency, WorldNewsVine.
He is currently Editor, West Africa and Head, Business Development, West Africa for pan-African quarterly magazine, AfricaBe and acts as a contributing editor to FilmAfrique, an exciting new film magazine published quarterly by the African Movie Academy, curators of the African Movie Academy Awards.
He is also a freelance editor.
Career in PR
He has interviewed and worked with various celebrities and personalities in the span of his career as a public relations consultant including GT da Guitarman, Vector, Saint Oz Gang, Overdose, Jon Ogah, Onyeka Nwelue, Sage Has.son, Mary Ndiaye, Antonio Lyons, Suranu, Christine Ben-Ameh amongst others.
He has worked as social media personnel (SMP) for various events, movies and organizations. He worked as SMP for both the Bayelsa and Anambra Book & Craft Festivals and the movies The Distant Light (yet unreleased) and Daisy, which premieres May 28, 2011.
IT Consultancy
He is also a web developer and general digital design consultant who liaises with third-party developers in design and animation projects.
Voices of 2011
Together with Iyinoluwa Aboyeji in 2010, he co-founded the voter advocacy support group, Voices of 2011 which proffered a platform for both young and old Nigerians at home and in Diaspora to select their candidates for the 2011 general elections through question-and-answer sessions with the candidates themselves via videos posted on social network, Youtube
Before the elections began proper, Eromo also wrote a very popular letter to the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, protesting the arrest of American-based Nigerian writer and essayist, Okey Ndibe on one of his trips into the country, asking if Jonathan was really the Messiah the masses wanted and offering advice to the government.
330 Republic
In 2011, he co-founded talent management agency, 330 Republic with fellow ex-DRUMLINE editorial member and CEO, 90 Degrees Clothing, Chuka Okeke. Initially, rapper/poet/singer Kid M.A.R.L.E.Y, rapper/producer/model, Barzini Sylverio and model/voice-over artist, Kosy were signed on. Later on that year, the agency signed the entire Saint OZ Gang which included apart from Kid and Barzini, the rappers Odes, Random, Bobby Combz and Paybac.

Awards & Records
In 2008, he became the youngest editor on record in Nigeria at 17 years, 7 months when he edited a campus newspaper, DRUMLINE, which he helped found with then schoolmates, Osondu Awaraka, Dera Igwe and Onyeka Nwelue. DRUMLINE was a newspaper published by DRUMLINE, a select group of creative young people, of which he was a founding member, at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, who were focused on creating and organising events. The newspaper folded up after a few editions and unsuccessful calls for sponsors.
In 2010, he was named #6 Most Influential Nigerian Under 20 by Y! and ThisDay in a controversial list and later that year nominated in the Emerging Tigers category of the 2011 Nigerian Gospel Awards.
