Enterprise Test

Enterprise test is a concept that combines automated test systems and information technology to solve company-wide test problems. This concept extends the main goal of traditional test instrumentation and software which solve the problems related to individual test stations.

The idea of enterprise test encompasses multiple aspects such as enterprise test software, enterprise software platforms, engineering and business intelligence consulting services, data management, collaboration, workflow, reporting capabilities, and asset management all focused on solving the enterprise-wide testing needs and maximizing the benefit across the organization.

Enterprise Test Applications

Typically, enterprise test refers to the effort of evaluating, characterizing, and validating electronic devices that may be used in different types of industries. One customer solution in the telecommunications industry involved National Instruments LabVIEW, National Instruments Test Executive, and SPC toolkits for quality assurance of automated wireless equipment. The LabVIEW applications were “tightly integrated with a networked SQL database.” The test system was successful enough to be replicated with other test groups for “system integration testing, in addition to the production testing for which it was designed and built.” Another example involves signal analysis where an enterprise test system is comprised of probes that record data during teach mode from system components. While in playback mode, the recorded data is used to "exercise the system as probes collect actual data for comparison to expected data."
