Ellen Germaine

Ellen Germaine is an American singer and music teacher.
Singer
Germaine has been singing professionally since she was a teenager in Chicago. She honed her craft in numerous "Windy City" blues and jazz clubs rising to the rank of 'headliner' at such notable Chicago venues as the Playboy Club, Orphans, the Bulls, Wise Fools, Park West, and many others. Along the way she toured Europe with her band for the USO, was featured on the PBS Series "Nightclubbing" and recorded a live album at the Arie Crown theatre with Richie Havens, Bonnie Raitt, Arlo Guthrie and David Bromberg for a tribute to Steve Goodman.
With her broad range of musical styles she was welcomed into the jingle community and has recorded a number of solo spots for McDonalds, Wisk, Nestlé Crunch, Kellogg's Corn Flakes, a duet for Pearl Vision with Jesse Colin Young, Cherry Coke, among others. Ellen moved to New York in the 1980s and became a regular at the Duplex, Catch a Rising Star, Caroline's, Upstairs at Green Street and Showtime at the Apollo. After being signed to Fama Records, she wrote and produced a number of dance singles in collaboration with bassist Francisco Centeno,” Keep It Up”, being the break out dance single.
Ellen toured with the Gregory Hines Review for several years performing regularly in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Japan, Monte Carlo for the Red Cross Ball and various locations throughout the world, headlining with Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Bill Cosby, Robert Townsend, among others.
Teacher
After studying with the best teachers that New York has to offer, Ellen has developed a style of teaching that focuses on performance, proper breathing, body balance and relaxation. She returned to her native Chicago at the end of last year and is currently accepting private students and working on her new CD.
