Ellatron is a music application for the iPhone and iPod Touch, developed by Omenie Software. Ellatron is inspired by the Mellotron, the classic tape-based sampling instrument popular with psychedelic bands in the 1960s and progressive rock artists of the 1970s. Ellatron was invited to be featured at the 2nd international Mellotron Festival Mellofest 2009 at the Luminaire in London with a special virtual appearance by Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater. Gary Go used Ellatron during his 'iPhone-only' live appearance at the London Apple Store in April 2009. During April 2009 Mike Pinder, founder of the Moody Blues announced via his newsletter that he had downloaded and was using Ellatron on his iPhone.
