Elissa Brent Weissman

Career
Elissa Brent Weissman was born in North Merrick, NY. She attended Sanford H. Calhoun High School and went to college at Johns Hopkins University and received a B.A. in Writing Seminars in 2005. Then, she studied children's literature at Roehampton University, receiving an M.A. in 2006.
Her first book, Standing for Socks, due to be released in March 2009, is about an eleven-year-old girl who tries to make a statement about individuality by wearing mismatched socks. But when she runs for student council president, she finds that everyone is paying more attention to her socks than to her ideas.
Her second book, The Trouble with Mark Hopper, due to be released in July 2009, is about two eleven-year-old boys who, although very different, have the same name. When one Mark Geoffrey Hopper moves into the town where the other Mark Geoffrey Hopper lives, the two boys make trouble for one another.
