The Elder Scrolls V is a single-player role-playing video game being developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks and the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games. It is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series, and is a direct sequel to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Speculation of a fifth installment has been rife ever since the release of "Oblivion"; speculation has been put to an end since November 23rd, 2010, when Eurogamer Denmark Editor-in-Chief, Kristian West, translated an article about the game to inquiring sources from the English-speaking Eurogamer magazine crew, boldly confirming the game's existence. Most of the details are under wraps, yet West spoke a little about the game's content and development. Plot Not much is known about the plot of The Elder Scrolls 5; however, fantasy-terms relative to the series have been tossed around: "Dragon Lord" and "The Blades". The latter of the aforementioned two happens to have been a major part of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The Blades are a secret organization devoted to the safety and well-being of the Emperor; and since there were no heirs to become Emperor at the end of Oblivion, the reference to The Blades might mean that The Elder Scrolls V might focus on a continuation of The Blades' story. Development In August of 2010, Bethesda's Todd Howard told Eurogamer that the majority of Bethesda's 90 or so staff are "beavering away on the new game". At that point, there had been no announcement of the 5th iteration in the series. Because Bethesda's last major game was Fallout New Vegas, most speculated that the next game that Bethesda was making would be an Elder Scrolls game. In an interview with Eurogamer at August's QuakeCon, Todd Howard stated: "I have a sense but we're not ready even to talk about , because it might change. I don't want to disappoint people." He also stated: "One thing I can say is that from when you first hear about it to when it's out will be the shortest it's been for us . It's pretty far along. When we show it, we want to show a lot, because there's a lot of game there to play right now." As to the engine on which the game runs, Todd Howard said that it was a significantly modified version of the engine that Fallout 3 was developed upon. The game was confirmed to be in production on 23-11-10.
