El Uali Mustapha Sayed Special School

El Uali Mustapha Sayed Special School is a public educational institution in Havana, Cuba. It is located in the neighborhood of Marianao. It was named after the late Sahrawi nationalist leader who proclaimed independence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic on February 27, 1976, became its first president, and was the first leader of the POLISARIO which fights for the independence of Western Sahara and has de facto independence in what is called the Liberated Territories and is also the only legal political organization in Western Sahara. The school was given its name on the 36th death anniversary of El-Ouali Mustapha Sayed. A ceremony was attended by officials from the Sahrawi embassy in Cuba when the school got its name. The school's students made a display honouring El Ouali.
