Eeeee Eee Eeee is Tao Lin's first novel. The title is a reference to the noises which Dolphins make. It was published May 15, 2007 by Melville House Publishing simultaneously with Lin's first story-collection, Bed. The 2nd edition was printed September, 2007; the 3rd edition May, 2008; and the 4th edition August, 2009. Rights have been sold to Japan, Germany (where it was retitled "Gute Laune"), and Spain Lin has cited Ann Beattie's Chilly Scenes of Winter, Joy Williams' The Quick and The Dead, and Noah Cicero's The Human War as influences for Eeeee Eee Eeee. In the novel dozens of literary and cultural references are made, including the following: Fernando Pessoa, Arthur Schopenhauer, Ann Beattie, Stevie Smith, Rainer Maria, Jawbreaker, Samiam, I Hate Myself. |
