Edward James "Eddie" Burks is a member of the Asheboro, North Carolina City Council serving since 2007 and former mayor of Franklinville, North Carolina serving from 1987-1989.
Burks was a candidate in the 2010 Republican primary for the Class 3 Senate Seat in North Carolina, opposing incumbent Richard Burr in the May 4, 2010 election,. He ran on a slightly more conservative platform than the incumbent.. According to an area newspaper, his chances were not considered very favorable prior to the primary. "Even Burks concedes a senatorial run for an unknown candidate is a long shot. “This is the grassiest of grassroots campaigns,” he said."
