EDL Cambridge

The English Defence League (EDL) Cambridge Division is part of a national group of far-right campaigners opposed to what they see as radical Islam.
The Cambridge Division has been reported to have few members but has been seen on the streets of Cambridge. Two student newspapers have reported a confrontation between the Cambridge Division of the EDL and anti-war protesters carrying signs reading 'End the War, Bring Them Home', at a homecoming Parade for the Royal Anglian Regiment in Cambridge city centre who had return from serving in Afghanistan.
According to the website of the Cambridge EDL what they term 'Islamic extremists' are
'pervasive' in Cambridge and it is a 'very local problem'.
Criticism
A Cambridge University student paper called the Cambridge Tab notes that the number of EDL members that showed up for the homecoming Parade for the Royal Anglian Regiment in Cambridge was very small. It also notes what it sees as Irony in a comment made by a 'skinhead' EDL member who stated 'no wonder they’re against the war, look how long his hair is '.
