Eddy Robles Badrina was born in 1976, in Houston, Texas. The son of Filipino immigrants, Badrina was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the Director of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and as Executive Director of The President’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Badrina's appointment was concurrent with , which moved the Initiative from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Prior to his appointment, Badrina was a senior associate at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and as a legislative advisor at the U.S. Department of State. Currently, Badrina is the co-founder of Buzzshift, a digital strategy agency headquartered in Dallas, Texas, an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Dallas, and on the boards of Seed Effect, a microfinance non-profit organization, and the Great Investors Best Ideas symposium, which benefits the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research and the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation.
