Eamon Ruiz Kavanagh is a central defender with C.F Universidad de Corinthians. He was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, but was brought up in Waterford, Ireland. He made his Corinthians debut in the 2005 Albany Cup, and is 25 years old.
In December 2005, Kavanagh announced his retirement from the game of football due to injury at the age of 24, and is now expected to take up a coaching post with Universidad de Corinthians. He was quoted as saying; "My knee is in such bad shape that I have no choice but to retire, my heart is broken, but the eagle cannot stay on the ground forever whilst the snake slithers towards it, waiting to pounce(World Soccer Edition 119 September 2005)". Kavanagh is also the cousin of Corinthians midfielder, David Eduard Ruiz Nevins.
