Dynamic synesthesia is an extremely rare form of synesthesia that is gaining recognition and the attention of researchers because people with it are far less likely to have as many drawbacks as most people with non-dynamic synethesia. It is distinguished from non-dynamic synethesia by the ability and tendency to change the specifics of the synchronisation between the effected senses; for example someone with it who visualises letters and numbers as colour coded may change the actual colours that individual letters appear as over time. It is theorised that these changes only take place subconsciously over time in most cases. The condition is not usually diagnosed and continues as to when it should be diagnosed.
