Dumez Bridge

The Dumez Bridge project was completed in Kirkuk city in 2007 by two dealing companies, the Turkish company called ‘’ and the Iraqi company Called ‘Zaffaf El rafedeyin’ under the supervision of Kirkuk Road and Bridge Directorate which is one of the establishment of The Iraq Ministry of Reconstruction and Housing. The construction engineers were Sinan Tahseen Saadi and Ali Abbas Safer.
The aim of the bridge project was to link a main road which goes through Kirkuk city center to another road which goes to another side of Kirkuk city.
Mentioned companies prepared all necessary plans and designs under the supervision of the engineers in charge of this project, Sinan Tahseen Saadi and Ali Abbas Safer. This bridge has reduced the traffic congestion which have been occurring in the morning in rush hour around 8 O’clock by connecting the part sides to the main road.
Execution
The bridge is 160 meters long, made by Caisson bridge system. The width which allows for double cars in each side is 12 meters. Total number of spaces are nine, but five of them goes 15 meters longer. Per-cast concrete thickness used in every spaces is 8 Rawft. The cast concrete has been fitchered in all of the 16 underpinnings in the form known as wide kuyusinat.
D 20 classe of concrete was used in the posts, (in the underpinnings, in the bases of underpinnings and the hats of both of them).
Advanced cast has been effectuated into the 80 joists which have 90 cm highs. 11 of these joists are 20 meter longer and the rest, 69 of them are 15 meter longer.
Total amount of concrete used in bridge is at least 4500 m3.
In the boundaries of this project, 23.000 m2 consist of black pitch.
Constructive examination tests and all quality controls have been carried out under the supervision of the Kirkuk Constructive Laboratories. National Construction Laboratories Center and Researches were informed of the results.
