The duck face is a facial expression generally used to convey ridicule or intellectual superiority, usually employed as a response to another persons' comments or actions.
The duck face is characterised by raised eyebrows and a pursing or puckering of the lips, but is also often accompanied by a tilted head, eye roll and a smug demeanor. Once the duck face has been assumed, it is usually held for a period of several seconds before released.
Frequently the face maker will issue a sarcastic or condescending comment immediately prior to the actual duck face, thereby using the facial expression draw further attention to the remark.
The duck face has been brought into mainstream Australian culture by such people as TV's Kath and Kim, and many contemporary politicians.
