Drew Parker

Drew Parker (Jonathan Drew Parker) (born January 22, 1988 in Surrey, British Columbia) is a Canadian pitcher drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He turned down an offer from the Rays in favour of a two year stint with Chipola College, in Marianna, Florida. He has collected many awards over the years, amongst them a JUCO World Series MVP. He is currently enrolled at Brewton-Parker College.
Early life
As a kid growing up his life was baseball. The family home in Cloverdale, British Columbia shared the back fence with the local baseball park, and parents Cindy and John were key figures in the Cloverdale Minor Baseball Association. As a teenager Drew attended Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School in Cloverdale, playing both soccer and basketball.
Amateur Career
Canadian Nationals
Parker pitched for Greg Hamilton's Team Canada National Youth Team that advanced to the 2006 World Junior Championships in Cuba, taking home the Bronze. Among the players on the team were Tyson Gillies, Brett Lawrie, Kyle Oar and Phillippe Aumont.
Fraser Valley Chiefs
Drew was the ace pitcher for the Fraser Valley Chiefs in the B.C. Premier Baseball League.
College Career
Chipola Junior College
At Chipola Junior College, named to the 2007 Panhandle Conference Second Team, 2007 FCCAA
All-Tournament Team, collected two victories and two saves while being named the MVP of the 50th JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was a member of the 2007 JUCO World Series National Championship Team.
Brewton-Parker College
Drew is enrolled at Brewton-Parker College and will be playing for the Barons in there 2010 baseball season. He will be managed by 2nd year coach Greg "Boo" Mullins, former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher.
2010 First-Year Player Draft
Drew will be entered in the MLB’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft, held in June, 2010.
