Andre "Dre" Knight, born in 1977, is an American music producer, composer, arranger and songwriter. Early life Early life Dre was born to Evan and Marsha Knight in New York City. He has three older sisters, Evangeline Knight, Ela Samuels and Edwina Tuten. Knight enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996 and attended The Armed Forces School of Music and studied composition and piano. He is a professional pianist. Knight now lives in Brooklyn, New York. Performer After graduating from Samuel J. Tilden High School in Brooklyn, Knight enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1996 under the job occupation Marine Musician. He attended the Armed Forces School of Music where he honed his piano playing and technical skills. It was there that he discovered his passion for music. Before studying at the conservatory, Knight lived in Brooklyn, NY and Washington DC. Producer Knight's production history spans several contemporary music genres, including hip hop, R&B, pop, and dancehall. Production credits include Teairra Mari, LL Cool J, Sizzla, Bayje, Keshia Chante, Kim Davis, Jenna G and Sha Stimuli. Knight began his career producing songs for rapper Sha Stimuli in 2004 as part of The Narcotics production team which was instrumental in Stimuli landing his record deal at Virgin Records. The following year, he landed the remix to the hit single, "Make Her Feel Good" which featured rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West. He followed that with "What You Want" by rapper LL Cool J and featured fellow Def Jam rapper Freeway. In 2006, he produced "Beep Beep" for Sony/BMG recording artist Keshia Chante which never was released in the United States but was released in Canada. Knight also produced the songs "Thank You For Loving Me" and "I Love You Baby" on Sizzla Kalonji's "The Overstanding" album released through the Damon Dash Music Group/Koch Records. That same year, Knight was named as the music director for the soundtrack "Queen Of Media"- a film produced by radio personality Wendy Williams and Furqaan Films. Knight's interest in developing his own artist grew and he began searching for an artist that would compliment his eclectic musical taste. In early 2007, he signed artist Kim Davis of Toronto, Ca to his KDI Music Group production company. Together, the two spawned the album "Live, Love, Learn". The singles "Hush" feat. Sizzla Kalonji and "Sometimes" achieved success both in the United States as well as Canada. The single "Hush" is featured on VP Records "Strictly the Best" Vol. 38. Davis' album is scheduled for a 2008 independent release. In late 2007, he entered a partnership with reggae superstar Sizzla Kalonji to produce his entire album which would be released as an independent project through Sizzla's Kalonji Records and Knight's Dre Knight Music brand. The album will be released on April 1, 2008 and is entitled "Get With You". He is currently collaborating with producer/artist Ryan Leslie. Co-founder of the production company KDI Music Group and the production team "The Narcotics", Dre is best known for his production work with Def Jam Records artist Teairra Mari and the remix to the hit single, Make Her Feel Good. Dre served as the Music Supervisor for the film "Misunderstandings," overseeing the scoring and soundtrack for the film set for summer 2008 release.
