Draconity is one of types of otherkinism (self-identification as being other than homo sapiens). Dragons-otherkins called themselves as "dragons". The Psychology Of Draconity "I am a dragon" means that one has chosen to acknowledge dragons as an important part of their life - as a social group, as a way of looking at themselves, as a way of looking at the world. Dragons consider that it is impossible to name them youth subculture because they do not have the culture different from basic. Dragons have very different styles of behaviour and clothes, that unites those in draconity. Sometimes they use non-standard cultural elements (for example, font ClaWrite or draCode (a short form way for those in the Dragon community to describe exactly what they are)) in their life, but it seldom occurs, especially with Russian-speaking dragons. It is impossible to name oneself a dragon, as it is impossible to become a dragon. They can only be born a dragon. This means that draconity cannot be advertised and involve new "dragons". The Dragon Community The Dragon community developed in the middle of 1990 in an English-speaking part of the Internet. In particular, in Usenet newsgroups devoted to dragons, the oldest of which was created in December, 1993 - alt.fan.dragons, and IRC channels. At this time the term "draconity" was coined. A small amount of dragons exist, and as they are usually located far apart from one another, they cannot learn about other dragons without the use of the Internet. Therefore, most dialogue between dragons occurs on the Internet. The dragon community has dragons around the globe, and there are dragons living in the USA, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and many other countries. In order to communicate with dragons outside of the Internet, large meetings take place. From July 26th till August 1st, 2009 the DDC-2009 (Deutsche Drachen Con-2009) meeting has taken place - a meeting of dragons of Germany located at the youth tourist base Blankenheim (nearly 50 participants attended). On August 11th till August 17th, 2009 the "DraKon-2009" meeting has taken place - a meeting of dragons of Moscow, Russia (38 participants attended).
