Jenny C. Yip (born 4 June 1976 in Hong Kong, U.K.) is a licensed clinical psychologist, author, and educator whose expertise is in the field of treatment of anxiety disorders. She is based in Los Angeles, California, USA. Her primary modality is cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT). She developed the Family Systems Based Strategic CBT, integrating Mindfulness Training and Strategic Paradoxical Techniques with Cognitive Behavior Therapy, while working under Ida Gorbis at the Westwood Institute for Anxiety Disorders in Los Angeles, CA. Yip is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Southern California (USC). Having kept up a private practice in Washington, D.C. and, later, Los Angeles, in 2008 she founded her own CBT-based mental health clinic, Renewed Freedom Center, which specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders, OCD spectrum disorders, eating disorders, tic disorders, phobias, and PTSD. In 2013, she published her first book, Productive Successful You, which offers advice on how to deal with and overcome procrastination and increase productivity. She has also appeared in KCBS Los Angeles News segments addressing compulsive hoarding and Target’s Obsessive Christmas Disorder shirts, as well as various publications, including Strategy, Health, Shape, Autograph, LA Parent, Complete Wellness, and The Daily Breeze discussing anxiety disorders, extreme exercising, stress relief, willpower, mindfulness, parenting of children with OCD , hoarding, and tech addiction. Additionally, Dr. Yip has appeared on 790 KABC Los Angeles with Dr. Drew Pinsky and Mike Catherwood to discuss digital detox and NPR on its 88.3 KPCC-FM Radio affiliate in Los Angeles, addressing the topic of children and mental illness. In x2007, she was hired as a clinical consultant for the film Ball Don’t Lie, starring Rosanna Arquette, Nick Cannon, Ludacris, and Emilie de Ravin and released by Night and Day Pictures. In 2013, Dr. Yip appeared in the Nick News special Worried Sick: Living with Anxiety, hosted by Linda Ellerbee. Dr. Yip received her bachelor degree in psychology from George Washington University in 1997 and her doctorate (PsyD) from Argosy University in 2000. She is a frequent presenter at the annual conferences and conventions presented by the International Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Foundation (IOCDF), the Anxiety & Depression Association of America (ADAA), the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA), International Conference on Psychophysiology of Panic Attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (OCF), and California Association of Independent Schools (CAISCA), as well as the tri-annual World Congress of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies conference. Dr. Yip has been married since 12 September 2015 to actor Marc McTizic. They reside in Los Angeles.
