Dr Sushil Kumar

Sushil Kumar (born March 1951) is Director in ICHR Indian Council of Historical Research.
Early life and Career
Hailing from a small town Fatehgarh Churian, Punjab, India, Kumar studied in Government High School Fatehgarh Churian and at Colleges Amritsar and Jullundur, Punjab. He stood first in BA Honours in History (Punjab University) and MA Previous History (Guru Nanak Dev University).
Whilst in the services (July 1971-July 1997) Kumar kept his pace with the academics. He graduated in Law from Agra College Agra, earned MSc Defence Studies from Madras University, DIM and PGDHRM from Indira Gandhi National Open University and MPhil, PhD studies from .
In his second career in the Indian Council of Historical Research commencing from July 1997 Kumar has been Right to Information activist, social worker, whistle blower of mismanagement and corruption and has been lecturing on the topics on Military History and World Peace. In one of his radio interview, broadcast on the Republic Day, Kumar a soldier- scholar exhorted the soldiers and Officers of the Armed Forces to keep books in trenches, ships and in the Cockpits, for a successful transition in to any second career in the civil street- the Forces personnel, all over the world, retire fairly early and need a second career.

Sushil Kumar has authored many articles and Books such as “Surrender of Japan”, Nuclear Strategy for Third World Countries with focus on India, China and Pakistan, Philosophy of History, Pokhran Revisited, Rock Art: The Product of Human Imagination and Imaginable Achievements, Peace and Conflict Resolution ,Yudh Hote Hi Rahenge. Why Tinker With History? Soldiers were the Heroes of 1857, The forgotten Harbingers of 1857 etc. besides silently bearing the onslaughts of those who are whistle blower suffocates and is emerging as a Peace Historian in the land of Mahatma Gandhi.
