Doz is a cartoon giraffe from the 1970's Danish animated shorts 'Sjov hos Doz' (or 'Fun with Doz'). She is characterised by her stupidity, lackadaisical attitude and gross misunderstanding of the world around her, resulting in comedic situations.
Appearance Doz was originally to be named 'Beigefarvet Doz', or 'Beige Doz' due to her body colouring, but it was thought by creator 'Dagfinn Vilfred Gulbrand' that this was too representative of her character.
This name was lost after the pilot show, however all subsequent representations of Doz have been equally as beige. It seems that most of her features are intended to induce laughter; her long neck becomes a hindrance in many episodes.
Issues The episode "Doz meets the Donkeys" was made to encourage kindness to animals and especially donkeys as they were a special passion of Dagfinn Vilfred Gulbrand's, and resulted in an increase in donations to the donkey charity "Brooke" (http://www.thebrooke.org/).
In some of the episodes, Doz is depicted as having broken a leg to show how coping with a disability can still result in having a full and, in this case, hilarious life.
